Fundraising for charities is becoming more and more difficult every year. Traditional door to door campaigns are not as lucritive as they once were. Yet the number of people in need, and the cost of providing services is constantly growing!
The Kerry Talmage Memorial Endowment Fund held with the Kidney Foundation of Canada is a nationally managed fund, where the principal money raised is never touched. The fund is invested and the returns on that investment are what the Kidney Foundation spends in it's yearly budget.
While it is a nationally managed fund, money generated by the investment is divided between the provinces in proportion to the percentage of the total endowment which each province is responsible for having raised.
If 50% of the total funds in the endowment are raised by the province of Alberta, then 50% of the investment returns are spent on Albertans.
Every year that we donate to the endowment, it's ability to generate critical and lasting funds for the Kidney Foundation means two very important things:
Firstly, they can commit to sustainable projects and support for patients and families living with kidney disease. They can continue to fund ground breaking research. They can tackle projects such as public awareness campaigns, education, and prevention initiatives, projects that need to continue year to year, projects that are vital to the health and well-being of every Canadian.
Secondly, the Kerry Talmage Memorial Endowment will live with the Kidney Foundation for generations to come. The contribution you have been a part of in honor of Kerry, or someone else you know living with diabetes, high blood pressure, dialysis, or kidney transplant, ... that generosity and heartfelt support will never be forgotten.
Thank you for being a part of Canada's health history.
