Born of the creative spirit of comedy, through Kerry Talmage, the "Mighty Mite of Mirth", and Sheri Forbes, long-time Kidney Foundation volunteer, Kidney Komedy Night began with a vision of raising funds for kidney patients through an event that stands firmly on its own as a "not-to-miss" comedy show.
Since then, Kidney Komedy Night has grown to become one of the largest annual comedy events in Canada, supported by sponsors, media and of course - those who wish to see an unforgettable comedy show!
Kidney Komedy Night is fuelled by the need to address one of Canada's growing health concerns, and as such has had a clear mission right from the start,.. to promote comedy in Canada, and help patients and families living with kidney disease.
Kidney disease is one of the fastest growing epidemics in Canada. And is often a direct result of many seemingly unrelated medical conditions - like high blood pressure and diabetes. Every single person in Canada knows someone who has some form of kidney disease.
The first Kidney Komedy Night was held in 1997, and since Kerry's death in 2004 from complications of his kidney disease, Kidney Komedy Night continues to deliver an amazing comedy show in his honor - and for patients like him who live with diabetes, heart disease, life-supporting dialysis, heart attacks, blindness, and a multitude of other problems that come hand-in-hand with kidney disease.
Kerry always believed that laughter was the best medicine; and Sheri Forbes, Joe Belland, plus a host of other hard-working volunteers all dedicate a huge amount of time and energy to deliver an event packed with fun and laughter.
So come laugh with us! Enjoy a night out with some of the most talented in the business. Treat your friends! Your Family! Your co-workers! Because life's too short not to enjoy a good eyes-watering, sides-splitting full out laugh fest! And know, that while you are enjoying a comedy show unlike any other - you are also addressing one of the fastest growing medical issues today!
